RESULTS
During my career, I have achieved success one project at a time. The following selected
project examples will help to
illustrate my results in System Implementation, Project Management, ERP, and
Programming.
The success and results that I have been able to achieve is based on a simple,
yet effective process used to acheive great results.
- System Requirements/ERP - By listening to the customer/stakeholder, not
only the person requesting the system, but key players that will be using the
system, is the foundation of the project and which all other work is built.
- Solution Acquisition - After taking all the requirements from the
customer, it is absolutely imperative that the solution closely matches the
requirements outlined by the customer. I show the client a solution to
their needs rather than a 'Demo'.
- Project Management - Managing the customer is as important as managing
the project during implementation. There is a tremendous amount of work
involved by the customer in order to for the system to effectively used.
Helping the customer accomplish their tasks in the project is just as important
as a installing the solution. Making key people at the customer's
organization enthusiastically involved is a major key to my successful
installations.
The success in my career started with applying myself in college. By doing this, I was able to get interviews by
five of the Big Eight accounting firms as well as others, and
job offers by 4. Once hired, I received new recruit honors, which was given to two recruits from a group of sixty.
Upon taking the Controller position at Appleway Group, the financial statements
were being released 25 days after month end due to stringent reporting
requirement by General Motors. By
using my computer automation skills and understanding of accounting work flow, I
was able to accurately close the monthly financials within 1 week of month end. They were so impressed, that they had
me implement the same applications and procedures in the
Toyota branch.
Through my connections with the Accountants I worked with
at Deloitte, I starting working the companies with which they were involved. I installed the accounting system for
Itron International which included the United
States, England, Germany, France, and Australia.
I then automated the financial reporting process to all location into a
single financial report. (see recommendation)
Years later, I installed the initial accounting system at Itronix, a sister
company of Itron. Years after that, they upgraded to Dynamics. We
did a complete ERP, worked with project manager and other staff to install a
system that greatly improved the efficiency of the Accounting department and it
ability to interface with the other departments in the company.
I installed over 30 accounting systems in many different
industries, including high & low tech manufacturing, the health industry, auto &
appliance parts houses, and the building industry. Many Projects included customizations
which required working with customer to determine needs and working with my
programming staff to deliver the product. I won regional and national awards
from Great Plains Software for my sales and customer service.
At Great Northern, I was able to completely integrate every operation in the
business, allowing for an extremely low overhead for a start up company. I
was able to do this though the use of production software, Dynamics, and ASP.Net
technology. We able to eliminate two thirds of the accounting staff
through this process and free up more resources for sales and R&D.
We worked with many companies that were also start
to develop web applications, provide hosting and internet connectivity.
Our team developed shopping cart applications for over 20 companies.
The last two years have been occupied developing System Applications for a large home builder in Spokane.
We were able
to cut the variance on building houses to about 0.1%. They have been very happy with my work.
